The Kyrgyz Republic: Opportunities and challenges to agricultural growth

Agriculture is one of Kyrgyzstan’s most important economic sectors, contributing to approximately 22% of the gross domestic product and employing about 35% of the country’s workforce. This report provides an overview of the agricultural and agribusiness sector in the country within a comparative framework, identifies policy bottlenecks and priority areas for public investment and interventions by international financing institutions and other development donors. It also provides policy recommendations to improve the attractiveness of the agricultural sector for investors.
