Agriculture Area Development

Asian Development Bank
Central and West Asia Department
The long-term development goal of the Project is to increase the incomes of farmers in Chui Oblast. The immediate project objective is to increase farm productivity and profitability in selected areas. Within the Chui Oblast, the Project will focus initially on selected geographical areas that coincide with the boundaries of the former state and collective farms. While selection criteria are identified, participation will depend on the demand, capability, and willingness of individual enterprises. There are four components: (i) farm development, (ii) drainage and irrigation, (iii) development of private sector market and input supply services, and (iv) project management. The Project will provide on-the-job training and other training to increase the understanding and level of skills of farmers and enterpreneurs.
