A workshop on the Serbian Sugar Sector organized by the FAO Investment Centre & European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) - through the EastAgri CEI Network - took place in Belgrade on 27 May 2004 under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Serbia. The aim of the Workshop was to discuss current position on sugar market in Serbia and various policy options for the sector as well as defining direction for the future. The Workshop was attended by senior level representatives: Ambassador Geofrey Barrett (Head of Delegation of the European Commission to Serbia and Montenegro), Mr Miroljub Labus (Deputy Prime Minister), Ms Ivana Dulic-Markovic (Agriculture Minister), Mr Zivkov (Deputy Minister of Agriculture) as well as representatives of SFIR, MK Commerce, Hellenic Sugar and sugar beet producers.
